About the Order of Quetzalocoatl
The Order of Quetzalcoatl, founded on March 14, 1945, in Mexico City, is a charitable organization composed of Masons and Shriners who are dedicated to supporting the Shriners Hospitals for Children. The Order began when Shriners from Arizona and Southern California visited the newly opened Shrine Hospital in Mexico City, witnessed the initiation of members into the Order, and spread its ritual back to Shrines in the U.S., where new chapters, or Teocallis, were formed. Members are invited based on their service to their Shrine and the hospital system, with a primary focus on raising funds for the Hospital Transportation Fund. The Order’s rituals involve earning degrees, with the highest being the Master Artisan, and encourages pilgrimages to the Mexico City hospital. Groups of at least 15 Masons can petition to form new chapters, and the Order operates independently of the Shrine.
About the Q Foundation for Kids
The Q Foundation provides services and support to Shriner’s children and their family while they are in the hospital due to their families being unable to financially afford the necessities of life while receiving the care the child desperately needs.
